Writing Topics - My first school memories

On my first day at school I was pretty confident that I knew what I was doing, until... the bell went I was scared out of my head I thought that a robber had come and we were all going to die. Well this is when I was in Kindergarten, so you can't blame me besides the bell is pretty loud.

Anyway after the bell I got sorted into my class. I was with one of the meanest teachers alive, her name was Ms Tomas. I didn't like her, not even when it was my first glance at her. She looked mean, and she was mean.

Later on that year.... I was sitting at my desk; because I'm tall it was on a slant. Unfortunately the person sitting next to me didn't really like it, so they told on me. I got one my warning to not do it again. Of cause I did because I couldn't help, and just for more fun the person sitting opposite me burped and oh what a surprise the person next to me told on me again. I got put in time out.

That was my worst memory for kindergarten and I have told it to you so thank you for listing.

What a beautiful Pussy you are,

Do I want to be famous?

Well no I don't really think I would want to be famous because I think I would turn into a really mean person and you know things like that.
If I was famous (although I don't really want to be) I would have a big, big house and have a lot of maids with french dresses on, oh and I couldn't possibly forget the little hats with frilly black lace on it.
I would have the biggest bed ever made. It would be 6 metres wide and 6 metres longs oh maybe 7 metres long.
I think that is all I'll have if I was famous, but still I wouldn't want to be famous.

Once I sat on a furry cat, the cat was purring. I like that cat so I got of him and sat near the hot burning fire.

Ozymandias

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!
'Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

By Percy Bysshe Shelley
Write out this poem and learn some of it off by heart.

Years 5 and 6 (and extension students), give a description of its meaning.

I think that they are lost in a desert and can't find their way out.

I think we can improve the environment by not littering, planting more trees and plants.

The Scary Tapping Noise

One day as I was walking past the blue spotted kitchen door I heard a really scary tapping noise on my favorite window. I went to look but I was to scared I didn't know what to do, so I went to my bedroom and set out a plan to get rid of the scary tapping noise. Suddenly, I heard it again who ever it was must have been the weirdest guy in the whole world!

The next day as I was slipping my feet into my big, fluffy slippers I heard the tapping coming from the bathroom, but this time it was calling my name! I was really starting to get scared now. Mum walked in and saw me looking horrified. She asked me what was wrong and kind of just walked away - it was odd, I'd never seen Mum do that before.

Then the tapping got louder and heard was beating faster and my strength couldn't last much longer, I HAD TO TELL MY MUM, BUT I COULDN'T BECAUSE IF I DID SHE WOULD HAVE YELLED ME FOR MAKING UP SILLY STORIES! From mum, "I won't believe her, nobody does anymore." She thinks you've lied but you didn't. It's so annoying how mum does that.

Then one afternoon I went to the windows and checked if the scary tapping noise was still there and of course it was still there but now I knew what it was. I was so shocked. It was the rain tapping on the window in the room I was in, and the scary thing calling my name - it was my best friend from school trying to play a Halloween trick on me. I laughed so loud it was funny.

My Camping Trip

OK, it was a 10 hour drive from Wagga to Broken Hill! And I was in the middle between Cate and Damian, it was horrible. I couldn’t lay on someone because I hardly knew them. So I put my head in my lap and started to fall asleep…until my dad started snoring!!! Nobody could sleep at all when my dad fell asleep it would have been hard to fall asleep with dad’s snoring!

Anyway when we got there we started to set up camp, I was in a tent with Cate. My brother was in a tent that was really small; it was really funny because his feet were like hanging out of the side, and one morning while he was still asleep we (Cate and I) put some leaves from an old Gum Tree in middle of the caravan park, the leaves were pinkie orange with green spots and brown around the edge.

Camping isn’t really my thing but I don’t mind it, I think I could go camping for the limit of 10 days maybe if there was something to do while I was there.

The Man From the Snowy River - First Stanza

There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around
That the colt from old Regret had got away,
And had joined the wild bush horses -- he was worth a thousand pound,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray.
All the tried and noted riders from the stations near and far
Had mustered at the homestead overnight,
For the bushmen love hard riding where the wild bush horses are,
And the stock-horse snuffs the battle with delight.

Italy

There was this journalist and he disided to visit his mum in Italy. He was going to do all his work on the internet, not just have a holiday. There was a huge list of work that he needed to do so he went back to Austalia to do his work there, Italy just wasn't the place for him.

What I Found

In the principal's office I found... my teacher's black Lancer, my teacher's three cats and three sparkley birthday pens.

In the barn I found... a little pony sleeping, an old rusted food bowl, a little star from the northern sky and Ms S's green velvet jacket.

In my teacher's office I found...four flat batteries, three small cats rolled up in a ball, a broken pair of scissors and a Sony Vaio laptop.

Benny's Birthday

One day as Mrs. Diffle puts out a strawberry and chocolate cake with cream in the middle and cherries on top, on the table in the living room, she hears... thump, thump, thump.

It was the sound of a ball banging against the outside door. Mrs. Diffle jumped in shock and the cake flew straight into her face.

Writing Topics - Grade 3-4

Special Places

I have a special place where I get away from all the work, all the loudness. Sometimes my special place is the only answer to getting away from all the noise and loudness. Bye now I guess your wondering what my special place is?

My special place is... my bedroom!

The reason why it’s my bedroom is because I can put my music on really loud and maybe read a book, or do a crossword, but it doesn’t really matter what you do, it’s just a room I can relax in.

In my bedroom I normally listen to music and clean my room a bit, not much but a bit. If it’s already clean I’d read a book or have a rest, sometimes I take my mini laptop and play a card game on it.

Goodbye and Keep Cold

This saying good-bye on the edge of the dark
And cold to an orchard so young in the bark
Reminds me of all that can happen to harm
An orchard away at the end of the farm
All winter, cut off by a hill from the house.
I don't want it girdled by rabbit and mouse,
I don't want it dreamily nibbled for browse
By deer, and I don't want it budded by grouse.
(If certain it wouldn't be idle to call
I'd summon grouse, rabbit, and deer to the wall
And warn them away with a stick for a gun.)
I don't want it stirred by the heat of the sun.
(We made it secure against being, I hope,
By setting it out on a northerly slope.)
No orchard's the worse for the wintriest storm;
But one thing about it, it mustn't get warm.
"How often already you've had to be told,
Keep cold, young orchard. Good-bye and keep cold.
Dread fifty above more than fifty below.
"I have to be gone for a season or so.
My business awhile is with different trees,
Less carefully nourished, less fruitful than these,
And such as is done to their wood with an axe--
Maples and birches and tamaracks.
I wish I could promise to lie in the night
And think of an orchard's arboreal plight
When slowly (and nobody comes with a light)
Its heart sinks lower under the sod.
But something has to be left to God.

A Deam Pang Robert Frost

I had withdrawn in forest, and my song
Was swallowed up in leaves that blew away;
And to the forest edge you came one day
(this was my dream) and looked and pondered long,
But did not enter, though the wish was strong:
You shook your pensive head as who should say,
"I dare not--too far in his footsteps stray--
He must seek me would he undo the wrong.
" Not far, but near, I stood and saw it all,
Behind low boughs the trees let down outside;
And the sweet pang it cost me not to call
and tell you that I saw does still abide.
But 'tis not true that thus I dwelt aloof,
For the wood wakes, and you are here for proof.--
